Now wait just a second ....

... in the words of Jerry Seinfeld.  I didn't mention our trip to Auschwitz.  Maybe that's because I'd like to forget it.  Or because there is nothing, nothing anyone could say in words that would describe it.  Absolutely unbelievable.  The dark side exists .... maybe persists.  Do something nice for someone today ...or 10 people ... no, as many as you can.

More later .....

  1. That's good counsel, Doc. When we lived in Germany, we had occasion to visit Bergen-Belsen. I had heard that "it was a place where even the birds don't sing." It was true. I was astonished. As you walked through the gates, even nature seemed to still in a quiet reverence. I remember at the time thinking that what we must all do is work to create a a world where birds would want to sing happily, everywhere. I like the way John Wesley put it: "Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can."

    You take good care. D.

  2. After visiting Dachau 30 years ago and remembering how I felt after that, I must admit I chose not to go to Auschwitz when I was in Krakow and Tcychy in the spring.

I cannot imagine (or maybe it's that I think I actually can) how I would feel going to Bergen-Belsen or Auschwitz.

Looking forward to discussing this and other things when you get back.

Saw the Tychy group last night - for the most part they look and sound wonderful. You weren't kidding when you said Shelley looked amazing...

  3. Hi Duncan and Joan:

I love Wesley's quote! Yes, this was where my thoughts went as I suggested we all do something nice for someone ... that isn't really enough. We just need to do good as much as we can.

    R&K:

We started the tour at Birkenau - the extermination camp. Thousands of acres of work barracks and the ruins of the gas chambers. My respect and admiration to Poland for preserving these sites as museums - we can't forget what happened there.

So pleased to hear that Shelley is still looking good. Yes, we have much to discuss.
